For this project, I based my painting off the painting, "Matisse Window" by George Bireline. I chose this piece because it was very simple and I liked the colors. There's an interesting array of colors in it. I was drawn to it because I knew from the beginning I wanted to do something simple this time. The whole semester I've done projects that had a lot of detail, so I decided to do a simpler painting this time. I didn't have a large thought process for this project. My piece relates to the original because of the two stripes I included. Also, the main center piece of the painting is the window. I painted a table instead. When I think of a dining room it includes both a table and a window. I didn't really learn any new techniques or processes for this assignment. Paint has always been pretty familiar to me. On the other hand, I did gain some skill with painting. It teaches me different strokes and how long it takes to dry etc. The only challenges I faced with this project was that I wasn't really sure what to do? I had an idea, but I wasn't sure how to create it. Also, I was going to have the chair placed under the table, but I messed that up. Those challenges were also unplanned. Overall, I had a good lookout on this project.
The original painting is said to be a calming painting and gives off a brilliant glow.
