For this project, I decided to draw my friend's pet leopard gecko and fancy goldfish. I used a mixture of the mediums pen and pencil. Because I couldn't have the animals in the class room, I observed a photo of them. I used the zoom feature on my phone to look at all the little details. When I was faced with challenges on these two pieces, I went in head on. I went point while I was drawing the fish I realized that I totally got the tail wrong! I then proceeded to draw a circle around the little guy, which resulted in the spiral effect I came up with. This problem also inspired the half squares against the leopard gecko. Another challenge I faced was with the leopard gecko I was afraid to do the whole thing in pen because of all the tiny details. I do not regret my decision though. I believe that the pen really shows the details well. Because of the messed up fish fin my artwork did end up taking an unexpected turn for the better. I wasn't exactly sure what kind of medium would work best for this project. At first, I started off with pencil, but I didn't find it dark enough. So I then decided to try pen and that seemed to work best with this small of details. I've never really drawn realistic drawings before so this was very new for me. To have never drawn small, realistic drawings I really enjoy the outcome. Even though there was some challenges and this ways new to me, I thoroughly enjoyed this project.
